Leisa Stuart Chair of Trustees

I was born in Bolton but have lived on the Fylde Coast since the age of 11. I graduated from Manchester University in 1990 with a Law Degree and qualified as a Solicitor in 1994. Since then I have worked locally in private practice representing clients in a wide variety of cases. The majority of my work involves acting for clients who qualify for Legal Aid of whom many have complex needs and are from different social and ethnic backgrounds. Typically clients need my help at times of great personal crisis. In recent years my case load has been criminal defence work.

I first became aware of the work of Ormerod through Terry Jones (former Trustee) who was the office manager at the firm where I worked. I applied to become a Trustee and was delighted that I was successful. I enjoyed being a Trustee for over 10 years before being elected as Chair in February 2013.

I have strong personal ties to the area. I currently live in Lytham with my husband and 2 rescue cats. My parents, sister and two nieces also live locally. I am a season ticket holder at Blackpool F.C.
